Property - 94.384 Acres
Jessie Robertson had a deep abiding commitment to God and to his family. He purchased “100 acres” of land at a cost of $500 cash on December 13, 1879 at the approximate age of 49 from T. F. McKissick and S.A. McKissick. On April 10, 1903, he “willed” the property and estate at age 73 to his children and wife. He did state that the property could be sold at private or public sale and the proceeds were to be invested or to be left the same, meaning the property to his children’s descendants as his children and wife may decide. “FROM SLAVE TO LAND OWNER”!
Note 1:
On December 30, 1910, Jessie Robertson sold “4.9 acres” of the 100 acres to the Port Boliver Iron Ore Railroad Company for the sum of $50. The sale of the “4.9 acres” was required by Texas State law. All land owners in the area were required to sell to the railroad company the required acreage needed to lay down the train tracks. When the railroad company closed down in 1927, many original landowners who sold property to the railroad was able to buy back their property. However, the Jessie Robertson’s 4.9 acres was sold on the auction block. We believe it was sold on the auction block because there were no Robertson occupants on the land and non-paid taxes had built up and the taxes was in arrears. More will be shared on this item later. See Documents for corresponding deeds.
Note 2:
On October 31, 1975, Dossie Lee Robertson, sold “1 acre” of the original 100 acres to Harold and Bobbie Easley for the amount of $500. This sale happened because the Easley’s were friends of the Robertson family. If a title search for complete deed of ownership had been conducted by a Realtor/Title Company, it would have shown that Dossie Lee was not the complete deed owner and did not have the authority to sell the land. – See Documents for a copy of this deed and others.

School Historical Facts
Over the years growing up, I remember hearing that back in the old days, there was a elementary type of school named Robertson School where the black kids were educated. The building is no longer standing. However, I remember hearing that there was a historical marker just down the road a ways from the church on the opposite side of the road the church sit on. When any of are in that area, we should look to see if that sign is still there and if yes, take a picture of it.
Note: It is important to know that the current Robertson High School is and was not connected or affiliated with the old days Robertson School.
